Aidan Hart, a member of the Orthodox Church, has been a full-time iconographer for over thirty years. He has works in over 25 countries of the world, including with HRH The Prince of Wales, the Ecumenical Patriarch, Pope Francis, and at Mount Athos and numerous cathedrals. Whether painting panel icons or frescoes, carving stone or wood, or making mosaics, for Aidan the act of creating an icon is to pray with matter. Above all, an icon is a door between heaven and earth, a place of encounter between the praying viewer and the person depicted.
Raised in New Zealand, Aidan has resided back in Britain since 1983, and now lives in Shrewsbury, England, with his wife and two children – his best icons yet.
AIDAN HART ICONS LTD
ICONS, MOSAIC, CARVING, WALL PAINTING, & CHURCH FURNISHINGS
In this session we shall explore some of the profound theology expressed in the icon of the Annunciation and the Orthodox hymns for this feast. The dialogue between the Virgin Mary and God's messenger Gabriel shows the great dignity that God has given to us. He is beyond all being, yet unites Himself to our human nature and communes with us.
The maximum number of participants in each workshop is limited, so book early to avoid disappointment!
