Rowan Williams

'New perspectives on Julian of Norwich'

Theme: Several new studies of Julian have brought fresh and unexpected aspects of her work to light, including her importance for environmental theology; and a number of fictional treatments of her life have also appeared recently.  I'll be looking at some of these and asking how they help us read her anew.

Bio: Bishop Rowan Williams was born in Swansea and later studied and taught theology in Cambridge and Oxford before becoming Bishop of Monmouth in 1992.  He was Archbishop of Wales from 1999 to 2002 and Archbishop of Canterbury from 2002 to 2012, after which he became Master of Magdalene College in Cambridge.  In 2020 he retired to Cardiff where he lives with his wife Jane, also a theologian and teacher.  He has written many books on theology and spirituality, including "Being Christian", "Being Human", "Meeting God in Paul" and "Looking East in Winter".'
