Workshop 7 : 11.15 AM to 12.15 pm

walking the labyrinth

SPEAKER : Steve and June Burgess

Steve in originally from Manchester.  He moved to South Wales in 1980 with his work.  He considers himself to be 'born again Welsh'.  Although his family were not church goers he came to faith in his early teens.  June, on the other hand, was born in South Wales and has been a church goer all her life. They live and worship in Tonyrefail on the outskirts of the Rhondda.  They are involved in most aspects of parish life, including being co-ordinators of Messy Church and helping with the Christmas and Easter Experiences for the local primary schools.

Steve is also Church Treasurer.  June takes home communion.  A few years ago they both completed the Llandaff Diocesan Spirituality Group Course - Exploring Spiritual Accompaniment - which led on to them leading some of the Meditation services in St John's Cardiff City Centre Church.

A few years ago Steve and June were fortunate enough to use the LDSG labyrinth in their parish church during the 'Thy Kingdom Come' initiative, and both found it to have a profound effect on them.  When the previous 'Keeper of the Labyrinth' decided the time had come to step down they were delighted to be asked to take over this important ministry.

THE LABYRINTH

The labyrinth will be laid out in the school.

You will be supplied with white socks to wear for your walk to protect the cream canvas.

Writing and drawing materials will be supplied if you choose to record impressions or experiences after your walk.

You will also be able to walk through the labyrinth during the lunch hour.

HOW THIS WORKSHOP WILL TAKE PLACE

The workshop begins with a presentation about the history and use of the labyrinth, and we will learn how to use finger labyrinths. The group will be guided into a short meditation to help you become more aware of your personal focus, followed by prayer before walking the labyrinth itself.  For more information see
